Repetition. It can be frustrating when toddlers are going through this phase; but it is the way they learn best. Introducing a new concept gently, then repeating it in as many different ways and contexts as possible.

Today, D was for dinosaurs. Drawing around a wooden letter created a clear outline which could be followed with a paintbrush or surrounded by dinosaur footprints. This linked fine motor, mark making and letter learning skills together.


Whenever we do anything like this, speaking and listening are as important aspects as anything else;





There is no secret formula to learning letters, just provide a wide range of activities, reinforce with speaking and listening…

and repeat!
