I recently asked a brilliant group of Early Years Professionals from the UK, Europe and the US for recommendations of picture books to read aloud with young children. There was a fantastic response and we had a great on-line chat about these books and more. Below is a list of the books suggested, we have read several of these but many were new to me, too, so I’m looking forward to borrowing them from the library and having a read!

-We’re Going on a Bear Hunt- Michael Rosen

– A Squash and A Squeeze- Julia Donaldson

-Tiki Tiki Tembo- Arlene Mosel

-Peace at Last- Jill Murphy

-Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus -Mo Williams

-No David- David Shannon

-The Smartest Giant in town- Julia Donaldson

-The Gruffalo- Julia Donaldson

-Once there were giants- Marton Waddell

-The Giving Tree- Shell Silverstein

-The Heart in the Bottle- Oliver Jeffers
